Doug WambleThis just in: Memphis-born guitarist and singer
Doug Wamble, known for his work with Wynton Marsalis and Cassandra Wilson and now touring in support of his new CD
Bluestate, will perform on Wednesday, October 12 and Thursday, October 13 at Jazz at the Bistro. Tickets are $15, and are on sale now.
The news release announcing the show says, "The Tennessee native offers a music that is true to his roots in blues and gospel, his love of jazz and popular song," and based on the little I've heard of Wamble's solo work, that seems fairly accurate. If you'd like to learn a bit more about Wamble, check out this
"Before and After" interview from
Jazz Times and
this review from a festival show this summer. Wamble was also featured in a recent "guitarist's roundtable" in
down beat, but in keeping with that magazine's miserly policies regarding online content, the article is not on the Web.
