Jazz St. Louis has added performances by Branford Marsalis and Dave Liebman (pictured) to the spring 2016 schedule for Jazz at the Bistro.
The shows by the two veteran saxophonists are among a dozen additional performances this spring at the Bistro that were announced yesterday.
Marsalis and his long-running quartet will play a three-night stand at the club from Monday, February 8 through Wednesday, February 10, while Liebman's Expansions quintet will play one night only on Saturday, April 23.
Also added to the schedule are pianists Adaron “Pops” Jackson (Wednesday, January 13) and Ptah Williams (Wednesday, January 27 & Thursday, January 28); singers Andy Waggoner (Thursday, February 11) and Denise Thimes (Wednesday, February 24 through Friday, February 26); the Lindenwood University Jazz Band (Wednesday, March 9); and the Bosman Twins (Thursday, March 10 through Saturday, March 12).
Local burlesque performer Lola Van Ella and a backing band will take the Bistro stage next, on Wednesday, March 23 and Thursday, March 24.
Completing the just-announced slate will be performances from drummer Montez Coleman's trio with singer Anita Jackson (Wednesday, May 4 & Thursday, May 5); singer Brian Owens (Friday, May 6 & Saturday, May 7); pianist Peter Martin's trio with bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Gregory Hutchinson (Wednesday, May 18 & Thursday, May 19); and a tribute to Joe Sample and George Duke featuring Good 4 the Soul and guest keyboardist Reggie Thomas (Friday, May 20 & Saturday, May 21).
It also was announced Monday that trombonist Dave Dickey's big band will continue their monthly residency at the Bistro, with Sunday evening performances on January 31, February 28, March 20, April 24, and May 22.
Tickets for all of these shows will go on sale to current Jazz at the Bistro subscribers at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2 and to the general public at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9 via the Jazz St. Louis box office.
