There seems to be a bunch of live Miles Davis bootlegs from the 1970s popping up online lately, and while that period of Miles' career may not be everyone's cup o' tea, those who like the music Davis was making then (like yr. humble editor) will want to to grab this one.
It's from the music sharing blog Talkin' Bout My Revolutions, where a recent post offers for download a Miles Davis live set recorded November 13, 1971 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
The tracks are "Directions", "What I Say", "Sanctuary", "It’s About That Time", "Honky Tonk", "Funky Tonk", and a reprise of "Sanctuary". Most of these were first heard on record as part of the two-LP set Live-Evil, with the exception of "Directions," which I'm fairly sure didn't show up until a few years later as part of a collection of that name issued by Columbia Records to help fill the void left bt Miles' temporary "retirement" a few years later.
Personnel includes Davis (trumpet), Gary Bartz (soprano sax, alto sax), Keith Jarrett (keyboards), Michael Henderson (bass), "Ndugu" Leon Chancler (drums), Don Alias (percussion) and James "Mtume" Foreman (percussion). Looks like this will only be available for a very short time, so if you're interested, go download it now.
