Trio Tres BiénAlthough the weather here in St. Louis this week has been exceptionally nice for mid-August, we're still in the dog days of the year with regard to touring jazz performers passing through town. Still, there are plenty of club gigs by St. Louis musicians this week providing local listeners with tasty treats for the ear.
For example, you've got two chances to see the fine guitarist
Todd Mosby and his trio, tonight at
Brandt's and Friday at
Crossings Taverne and Grille. Meanwhile,
Cookie's Jazz and More has reopened after a brief vacation and will put the spotlight on three female vocalists, with
Valerie Tichacek performing Thursday,
Cheri Evans on Friday and
Kim Massie on Saturday.
Finale Music and Dining will feature the Vegas-style swing, jazz and pop of
Wild Cool and Swingin' on Friday, and on Saturday the club will present veteran vocalist Jeanne Trevor doing a tribute to Billie Holiday. Also on Saturday,
Trio Trés Bien, another time-tested group that's been active since the Gaslight Square era, will play Brandt's, while the laid-back singer/pianist
Al Oxenhandler will perform at Crossings.
As usual, for a more extensive list of this week's jazz performances, please see the
St. Louis Jazz Notes Calendar.
