From the Department of Better Late Than Never: St. Louis' daily newspaper has finally gotten around to mentioning the passing of jazz pianist and former St. Louisan John Hicks. The Post-Dispatch ran a wire-story obituary of Hicks on Friday, nine days after his death, and this weekend's paper has a story by pop critic Kevin Johnson that includes reactions from some of Hicks' friends and fellow musicians from the area.
And if you haven't read it already, you may enjoy taking a quick look at the comments thread from one of last week's posts, as it includes an entertaining story from pianist Eric Reed about his first meeting with John Hicks.
