at Brandt's this Sunday, May 21

Nicknamed "Lady Jazz," vocalist Mae Wheeler has been an active part of the St. Louis music scene since before the Gaslight Square era and still continues to work regularly. This Sunday, May 21, Ms. Wheeler is celebrating her birthday with a special show from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Brandt's, and a number of local musicians and singers are scheduled to take part in the festivities.

According to the email sent out by Brandt's, special guest vocalists will include Jeanne Trevor, Kim Massie, Amy Ehrlich, Hugh “Peanuts” Whalum, Denise Thimes, Baz Robnett, Mary Dyson, Donnie Brown, AJ SR, Wendy Gordon, Jeff Hardin, Barbara Carr, Gene Lynn, Desmond Brown and Ric Louis, while the roster of musicians will include Arthur Toney, Tony Simmons and Ptah Williams on keyboards; Adrian Bowers on trumpet; percussionists Larry Newsome, Bill Berry and James Thomas; and Jon Whiting on vibes. Admission is $5 plus a donation of canned food for Food Outreach.
