Trombonist Tom Matta added to GStLJF lineup

The Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival, set for April 21-22 at Jazz at the Bistro and the Touhill Performing Arts Center, has added bass trombonist and composer Tom Matta to its roster of guest artists.

Matta is from Chicago, and his credits include work with the Woody Herman Orchestra, the Frank Mantooth Jazz Orchestra, Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Art Garfunkel, Jimmy Heath, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Colorado Symphony, Concertante di Chicago, and the Ravinia Festival Orchestra. Matta is Visiting Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at the DePaul University School of Music, and also serves as an instructor at the summer jazz camp run by UMSL's Jim Widner.
