The funk/jazz/world music band Snarky Puppy is returning to St. Louis to perform at 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 16 at The Ready Room.
After playing St. Louis in 2012 at The Gramophone, in 2013 at what was then called The Demo and at the Old Rock House, and again in 2014 at the ORH, Snarky Puppy (pictured) skipped our town last year, and, as fate would have it, have grown substantially in popularity since that last gig here.
In October, 2014 they signed with Impulse! Records, and in May 2015 released their ninth album Sylva, a collaboration with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra.
That recording made multiple Billboard charts and in February of this year won the band their second Grammy, for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. (They had won Best R&B Performance in 2013 for "Something," a track from their live DVD/CD Family Dinner, Volume One featuring guest vocalist Lalah Hathaway.) Their latest recording, Family Dinner - Volume 2, was released in February.
Snarky Puppy's show at The Ready Room is all-ages, with tickets priced at $32 in advance, $35 day of show, and set to go on sale at 10:30 a.m. this Wednesday, March 16 via Ticketfly.
