Saxophonist Bob Mintzer will present a free clinic at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28 at Saxquest. The event is open to the public, with no admission charge or reservations required.
Mintzer (pictured) is best known as a longtime member of the jazz-fusion group Yellowjackets and as the leader of his own big band, but also has performed and recorded with Buddy Rich, Jaco Pastorius, James Taylor, Queen, and many others. In addition to touring and recording, the Los Angeles resident teaches saxophone and jazz composition at the University of Southern California.
He'll be in town to play with Yellowjackets, who are opening Jazz at the Bistro's 2013-14 season with performances starting Wednesday, September 25 and continuing through Saturday, September 28. Single tickets for the Yellowjackets' shows will go on sale Tuesday, August 13 via Metrotix and the Jazz St. Louis office.
