Happy birthday to trumpeter, singer, jazz legend, and St. Louis native Clark Terry (pictured), who turns 92 today!
Though he's had some major health issues in recent years and no longer is able to travel, Terry remains in good spirits and is eager to hear from friends, fans, fellow musicians and former students, according to this post that went up yesterday on his website's blog. You can add your own birthday greetings to him in the comments section of the post.
In the spirit of celebration, you can see and hear an entire set of music from Terry's quintet, recorded in 2000 - when he was a mere 80 years old - at Jazzwoche Burghausen in Germany, in the embedded video window below. That's followed by a version of Terry's signature song "Mumbles," recorded in 2006 for the PBS program Legends of Jazz.
