The Los Angeles-based, all-female group Jazz in Pink once again will be the featured musical entertainment for Community Women Against Hardship's annual benefit gala, which is set for 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 21 at the Sheldon Concert Hall.
Jazz in Pink's core members include pianist Gail Jhonson, longtime music director for guitarist Norman Brown; violinist Karen Briggs (pictured), who played for 13 years with new age/easy listening composer Yanni; flutist Althea Rene;
and harpist Mariea Antoinette. These four are joined by various singers - including, occasionally, St. Louis native Lynne Fiddmont - and other supporting players as needed.
"Corporate" tickets, which include a post-concert reception with the musicians, are $100 and $60, and can be purchased by calling CWAH at 314-289-7523. Single tickets are $45 for the main level, $25 for the balcony, and are on sale now via Metrotix.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Community Women Against Hardship, a
not-for-profit organization that provides programs and services to assist families struggling with poverty.
