Singer Mardra Thomas once again will step into the role of Billie Holiday for "A Portrait of Lady Day," a dinner-and-concert event to be presented at 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 17 at Harris-Stowe State University's Emerson Theatre, 3026 Laclede.Thomas (pictured) has portrayed Holiday a number of times on various St. Louis stages, most recently in June in another performance at Harris-Stowe. For the September 17 show, she will be backed by her husband, keyboardist Reggie Thomas, and a band including bassist Rodney Whitaker, drummer Marty Morrison and saxophonist Jason Swagler.
