Jazz St. Louis has announced the lineup of local bands and musicians who will round out the schedule for Jazz at the Bistro during the first part of 2010.
Note that all of these bookings are in addition to the season schedule of touring artists previously announced.

Show times at 8:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., except for Sunday, February 14, when there will be only one show at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for all events go on sale at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 8 via Metrotix or through the Jazz St. Louis box office at 314-289-4030.

Yes, all of these groups have played the Bistro before, some of them multiple times.
What I'm hearing from the Jazz St. Louis folks is that, for the immediate future, economic conditions are leading them them to concentrate on booking groups that have drawn good crowds in the past.
Personally, I wish they were a little less risk-averse in their booking policies, but given the circumstances, their caution is understandable.
If you have suggestions for musicians you'd like to hear at the Bistro, I encourage you to reach out to them via email, letter, the Jazz St. Louis Facebook page, or whatever means you choose, and make your wishes known. Then, get your like-minded friends to do the same. While audience requests are don't necessarily drive the booking process, they are a factor.
