Unity Theatre Ensemble will present the musical Lady Day at the Boston Bistro (An Evening With Billie Holiday) beginning Thursday, October 15 at the Ivory Theatre, 7622 Michigan Ave. in south St. Louis.
Compiled and written by UTC founder and artistic director Ralph E. Greene, the production stars Mardra Thomas (pictured) as Holiday, with her husband, pianist Reggie Thomas, providing musical arrangements and accompaniment and playing the role of "Sonny," Holiday's piano player and confidant.
Lady Day at the Boston Bistro will run for two consecutive weekends, starting Thursday, October 15 through Sunday, October 18 and again from Thursday, October 22 through Sunday, October 25. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets will be available in advance through Metrotix and at Afro World for $21 for general admission, $18 for seniors and students with ID; or at the door for $25 and $21. For group sales, call Unity Theatre Ensemble at 314-355-3586.
