There's more news on Pollstar today about musicians coming to St. Louis, as the online touring information service has just added a listing showing that trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard (pictured) will be in town to play at Jazz at the Bistro from Wednesday, February 4 through Saturday, February 7, 2009.
As always, the announcements found on Pollstar, though based on the best information currently available, are subject to change and should be considered unconfirmed until officially announced by the venue.
Blanchard first gained recognition as one of jazz' suit-wearing, hard-bop-playing, Blakey-inspired "Young Lions" of the 1980s, and has gone on to a successful career both playing jazz and scoring feature films for directors including Spike Lee, his most frequent collaborator, and St. Louis native Kasi Lemmons. I wrote about Blanchard for the Riverfront Times when he appeared at the Sheldon Concert Hall in 2002, and you can read that piece online here.
