Baritone saxophonist Hamiet Bluiett was featured in a story penned by Terry Perkins for yesterday's Post-Dispatch. The piece includes some comments from Bluiett about his ongoing work with student musicians as well as a preview of his gig this weekend at Jazz at the Bistro, and you can read it online here.
UPDATE - 4:30 p.m., 9/16/07: KWMU's Jazz Unlimited will devote a large portion of tonight's program to Bluiett. In addition to playing Bluiett's music, host Dennis Owsley will also replay a 1986 interview with the saxophonist. The program can be heard from 9 p.m. to midnight at 90.7 FM, or listen to the online stream here.
