StLJN Saturday at the Movies:
Diana Krall - "I Love Being Here With You"
plus Chris Botti - "When I Fall In Love"

This week, we've got videos from two popular crossover performers who are coming to St. Louis on the same bill at the end of August.

Pianist and singer Diana Krall and trumpeter Chris Botti will perform at the Fox Theatre on Wednesday, August 29, with tickets for the show on sale now via Metrotix. Krall, the nominal headliner of the tour, is seen here doing "I Love Being Here With You," a song she's often used as a show opener and one that shows off both her singing and piano playing to good effect.

The second video features Botti playing "When I Fall In Love," backed by a fine rhythm section including Billy Kilson (drums), James Genus (bass), Billy Childs (piano) and Mark Whitfield (guitar), plus an orchestra conducted by Gil Goldstein. While Botti probably would be the first to say that he doesn't fit the jazz trumpet archetypes of either "daring solo improvisor" or "bravura high note specialist," he does have a pleasingly rounded sound, knows how to deliver a melody effectively - a skill never to be underrated - and, obviously, knows how to hire good musicians.
