According to a news release from the label, Vignola plays Gershwin, the latest CD on St. Louis-based Mel Bay Records from guitarist Frank Vignola (pictured), reached #2 on the JazzWeek Jazz Album Chart for May 21, 2007. The JazzWeek charts measure radio airplay in North America.The April 2007 release also features Joe Ascione on drums, Tom Kennedy on bass, and Corey Christiansen on guitar, and you can hear samples from the CD online here. Vignola is scheduled to bring his Gypsy Grass project to St. Louis in October to perform at Jazz at the Bistro.
