Dave Brubeck to play benefit
at the Sheldon on June 3

Legendary jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck is coming to St. Louis on Sunday, June 3 to perform at the Sheldon Concert Hall in a benefit for the Friends of the Sheldon.

Brubeck, still quite active at age 87, will perform with his quartet, which includes Randy Jones on drums, Michael Moore on bass and Bobby Militello on saxophone and flute. Patron tickets for the show, which will benefit the Sheldon's educational programs, are $125 and include preferred seating, complimentary parking, a post-concert reception and a tax deduction. Single tickets will go on sale via Metrotix at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 4 for at $45 for orchestra seats (the floor) and $40 for balcony seats.

It's good to see the Sheldon making some of the tickets for this show available at something resembling affordable prices. For now, if you'd like to whet your appetite for Brubeck, check out the 1961 performance of the classic "Take Five," featuring Paul Desmond on alto sax, in the video window below.
