Posting has been light this week due to a variety of factors, including the Memorial Day holiday, problems with Blogger and with the aging computer here at StLJN HQ, and, not least in importance, a certain lack of breaking news stories. But I would be remiss if I didn't note that May 2006 was StLJN's busiest month so far in terms of total readership. Big thanks go to all of you, most venerated readers of this space, for making it happen.
There are two different free counters running on the site, with slightly different specific results, but the overall trend is clear. StLJN reached new highs for most visitors in a single day and in a week several times over the course of the month, and overall, the unique visitor count in May was up more than 30% from the previous month. Sometime very soon, I expect to be able to truthfully say that thousands of jazz fans are seeing the site each month.
Of course, I should also hasten to add that the absolute numbers are still tiny compared to the really big music sites. But after looking at the stats, and reading your comments and emails over the last month, I'm more convinced than ever that there is definitely a strong interest in this kind of information in St. Louis, and I'm more determined than ever to keep bringing it to you. Thanks again for reading StLJN, and I'll do my best to keep enough interesting stuff coming to justify your continued readership.
