Along with bandmate Stanley Clarke, keyboardist George Duke will be one of Saturday's headliners at this weekend's US Bank St. Louis Jazz and Heritage Festival. Duke has had many phases in his career, including serving as a sideman to the likes of Cannonball Adderly and Frank Zappa, producing R&B and pop hits for Deniece Williams and others, and as a solo artist whose muse has taken him from straightahead jazz to Brazilian music to funk, fusion and more.
For this clip, we're going back again to the 1970s, when Duke teamed up for a few years with drummer Billy Cobham. And, as an added attraction, this version of Cobham's "Red Baron" also features a very young John Scofield in one of his early high-profile gigs..
