Win free tickets to see Clark Terry
at the Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival
this Saturday, April 22

Clark Terry will headline the Saturday night concert
at this weekend's Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival

Courtesy of the Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival and their publicity firm DeBlaze and Associates, StLJN has two free tickets for the Festival's concluding concert to give away to one lucky reader. The show featuring legendary trumpeter and St. Louis native Clark Terry, Tim Ries, and several other guest artsts, as well as the University of Missouri-St. Louis Jazz Band under the direction of Jim Widner, is at 8 p.m. this Saturday, April 22 at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the UMSL campus.

To be elgible to win said ducats, email your answers to our trivia questions about the career of headliner Clark Terry to "stljazznotes at yahoo dot com" before 3 p.m. Central Time on Wednesday, April 19. (Please, don't forget to replace the spammer-foiling words "at" and "dot" with the symbols "@" and "." to make the email address valid.)

If there's more than one correct entry - and I'm guessing there probably will be, though I suppose it depends largely on the number of entrants - there will be a random drawing from eligible entries to select one winner, who will be notified by email. You' ll be able to pick up your tickets at the TouPAC box office one hour before the performance. A photo ID will be required.

And now, the Clark Terry Trivia Questions:

1) What year did Clark Terry begin his nine-year stint as a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra?

2) For how long was Terry a member of the Tonight Show band, and what prompted him to finally leave the gig?

3) What St. Louis high school did Clark Terry attend?

Please, only one entry per person. Multiple entries from the same email address will be discarded.
