Webster U to show Malle film with
soundtrack by Miles Davis on July 15

Made when director Louis Malle was just 24 years old,
Elevator to the Gallows is considered by some critics
to be the first film of the French "New Wave".

The Webster University Film Series has scheduled a screening of Elevator to the Gallows (aka Ascenseur pour l'échafau), a 1958 film directed by Louis Malle that includes a soundtrack by Miles Davis, as part of a Malle retrospective in July.

The film, which stars the iconic French actress Jeanne Moreau, will be shown at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 15 in the Winifred Moore Auditorium on the Webster campus. You can see a trailer for Gallows at the film's official site here, or see the Film Series' Web site for more details.
