Among many other things, the coming of spring means that it's time for the semi-annual flurry of student recitals, ensemble performances, and other musical programming from local educational institutions. However, the urge to get out and enjoy the nice spring weather can cut into the potential audience for such concerts.
The solution? Move the performance outdoors. Two concerts scheduled for next week on local college campuses will give listeners a chance to enjoy some electronic music al fresco. From noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, the aroboretum area of the Mildred E. Bastian Performing Arts Center at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park will be the site of "Digital Circles," a concert featuring electronic music composed by students of SLCC-FP's Jim Hegarty.
Then, from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday April 21, Washington University students of New Music Circle's Rich O'Donnell will present "Extreme Patio," a concert of electronic music to be held on the patio behind Blewett Hall (the Tudor-style building just off of Forsyth that houses the music department offices).
Both events are free and open to the public.
