Bistro gets rockin' new neighbor

Jazz at the Bistro is getting a new neighbor, as the rock club Creepy Crawl is relocating to the Grand Center area from its old location downtown on N. Tucker beginning this week. The club, which presents punk and metal bands with an emphasis on new and up-and-coming acts, will take up residence in the building known to many as the old Club Riviera, located at 3524 Washington just to the east of the Bistro. You can read all about about the move in this story by Post-Dispatch pop critic Kevin Johnson.

While representatives of current Grand Center organizations (including Jazz St. Louis' Gene Dobbs Bradford) are quoted in the story as hoping that some of the Creepy's patrons will check out some of the other cultural offerings in the midtown arts district, the main immediate impact of the move on jazz fans would seem to be to make it more difficult to find a parking space east of Grand. So, a word to the wise: next time you're heading down to the Bistro, you might want to allow yourself a little extra time to find a spot.
