Jazz studies students and faculty members from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will perform next week in the SIUE music department's fifth annual jazz concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8 at the Sheldon.
The performance will feature the SIUE Concert Jazz Band, music professors Rick Haydon (guitar) and Reggie Thomas (piano) and faculty members Jason Swagler, Andy Tichenor and Miles Vandiver, plus special guest artists Clay Jenkins (trumpet) and Jeff Campbell (bass) from the Eastman School.
Selections will include jazz standards such as "Stella By Starlight," "Dolphin Dance," "East of the Sun," "Serpent’s Tooth," "Polka Dots & Moonbeams," and "Triste," as well as material from a new CD featuring Haydon, Thomas and Campbell, and a special tribute to Duke Ellington.
