Don ByronThe ever-shifting schedules of touring musicians have required Jazz St. Louis to rework parts of their previously announced season this year, but the organization has done a good job finding top-notch talent on relatively short notice to fill the weeks left open. One such booking completed "on the fly" is that of clarinetist
Don Byron, who's just been confirmed for performances at
Jazz at the Bistro from Wednesday, April 12 through Saturday, April 15.
For this engagement, Byron will front the ensemble known as the Ivey Divey Trio, named after his 2004 CD that reinterpreted music from a famous 1946 session featuring Lester Young on tenor sax, Nat Cole on piano and Buddy Rich on drums. While the CD included pianist Jason Moran and drummer Jack DeJohnette backing Byron, he will be accompanied by different musicians in St. Louis, according to JSL operations manager Bob Bennett.
