Big River benefit nets $20K for hurricane relief

The Sheldon Concert Hall has announced that the recent Big River Hurricane Relief benefit concert held on Thursday, December 29 raised $20,000 for the Higher Ground Hurricane Relief Fund and Oxfam America's Hurricane Katrina Response and Recovery Fund. The sold-out concert featured jazz from musicians including Wess Anderson, Neal Caine, Jeremy Davenport, Victor Goines, Ellis Marsalis, Tom McDermott, Nicholas Payton, Dianne Reeves, Herlin Riley, Don Vappie and Peter Martin.

To them, and to all the folks behind the scenes who helped organize the show, we say: well done. (And if you missed the concert but still would like to contribute to the cause, the above links should take you to the contributions pages of the two organizations' sites.)
