Javon Jackson to appear at
JATB on November 11 & 12

Javon Jackson

Saxophonist Javon Jackson, a veteran of stints with Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Cedar Walton, Ron Carter, Charlie Haden and many other jazz greats, has been booked to perform at Jazz at the Bistro on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12.

(Readers with sharp memories may note that Jackson's gig takes the place of the dates originally scheduled for young piano phenom Taylor Eigsti. However, the news release from the Bistro gives no indication as to why the switch was made, or if Eigsti will be rebooked for another set of dates.)

Though his credentials as a pure jazzman would seem to be impeccable, Jackson is known for his funk-jazz style and an eclectic approach to recording, covering music from a wide range of non-jazz composers including Frank Zappa, Carlos Santana, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stevie Wonder and Muddy Waters.
