Dept. of shameless self-promotion, in brief,
with a rather lengthy corrective addendum

My Riverfront Times Critic's Pick on vocalist Sara Gazarek, who appears Thursday night at Finale, is online now, and you can read it here.

UPDATE: In one of those peculiar little glitches that happens occasionally, a superfluous hyphen got inserted into my copy sometime between when it left my hands and when it appeared in print. Rest assured, dear reader, that I did not write that Ms. Gazarek sings with a "sure-time feel." I have no idea what "sure-time" is supposed to mean, and I suspect that whoever inserted the hyphen doesn't either, but maybe it was one of those things that just seemed like a good idea at the time.

No, what I originally wrote was Ms. Garezek sings with "a sure time feel," meaning she has a sure feel for time, meaning...well, the meaning should be readily apparent to anyone with more than a passing familiaity with both jazz music and the English language. I'm willing to cop to goofy mistakes when I'm actually the one who made them, but in this case, in the immortal words of Bart Simpson, "I didn't do it."
