Since today is Halloween, and it's been such a horrifically long time since I promised the third installment in a series of posts of jazz weblogs of note, it seemed appropriate to title this entry with something inspired by those ultra-cheesy monster movie "classics" of yore. And since we are talking about a sequel, I should note that you can find part 1 of the series
here and part 2 right
here.
OK, now that I've got that out of my system, here are a few more jazz blogs you may enjoy:
*
Jazz HQ has jazz-related news items from a variety of sources, as well as lists of upcoming CD releases;
*
Redhouse Jazz focuses on the jazz scene in San Francisco, but also has some national/international news items with commentary by proprietor Stuart Nafey;
*
The Jazzcat is also based in the Bay Area, and seems to enjoy smooth jazz as well as mainstream;
* Also in the Bay Area, though posting less frequently, is
Jazz Listening, a blog dedicated to first impressions of jazz recordings;
*Yet another California jazz blogger is Pasadena's Steve Bowie, whose site
Blog-O-Jazz is described as "a sharing of jazz experiences through concert photos I've taken and autographs I've collected, plus a few random thoughts";
* Up in Washington state,
Smooth Jazz Notes certainly has a catchy name (at least in my humble opinion) and, as that name implies, focuses on smooth jazz, courtesy of blogger Brian Soergel;
* And last, but certainly not least, is
Jazz & Blues Music Reviews, which, as the title says, isn't strictly about jazz (or blues, for that matter) but has some interesting content written by site creator Tim Niland.
In the next couple of days, I'll be adding the RSS feeds for all of these sites that have one to
the St. Louis Jazz Notes Bloglines page. I've also got enough entries now to add a section of links to jazz blogs to the sidebar, so look for that soon as well. And if you know of any other jazz-related weblogs that are worth a look, please pass along the link, either in comments or via email to stljazznotes at yahoo dot com.

Rather disputable.
