Martin, Davenport get rhythm
for April 2 concert at the Sheldon

Pianist Peter Martin has announced two more guest artists for his upcoming concert with trumpet player, singer and fellow University City native Jeremy Davenport.

Bassist Chris Thomas and drummer Ulysses Owens (pictured) also will be on board for the performance on Friday, April 2 at the Sheldon Concert Hall, the second in Martin's eponymous new series.

Thomas has worked with drummer Brian Blade, trumpeter Terence Blanchard, saxophonists Josh Redman and Javon Jackson, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and more, while Owens' credits include performances and/or recordings with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, singers Vanessa Rubin and Kurt Elling, organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, the Count Basie Orchestra, saxophonist Benny Golson, guitarist Russell Malone, pianist Mulgrew Miller and bassist Christian McBride.
