Erin Bode headed back to South Africa
for "Themba Girls" follow-up

In the September message to her email list, singer Erin Bode announced that she and her band are going back to South Africa later this month:

"This Saturday we are returning to South Africa for two weeks to record the second installment of the Themba Choir cds. This time we will record with the boy's school choir. We know it will be a wonderful experience and cannot wait to share the music with you when we return. Visit erinbode.com for details on the release of the cd and performance dates with the Themba Choirs. Our first concert will be in Salt Lake City on September 27th at the Capitol Theater."
Bode also followed up on her appeal last month for contributions to a "legal support fund," though there was no further information offered as to why she needs such a fund:

"Also, I'd like to thank all of you who have contributed to our Legal Support Fund. Your help is very important to the future of our music and is much appreciated. I'm sorry to have had to leave you all in the dark but we hope to be able to fill you in on more details soon. Thank you again for your patience and support."
As mentioned in an earlier post here on StLJN, the rumor is that Bode is trying to get out of her contract with the MAXJAZZ label, and thus may be amassing a war chest in case legal action becomes necessary. While the singer hasn't confirmed this, or, really, said anything at all about it since her initial statement soliciting funds, I did notice something for the first time the other day when checking her MySpace page for updates.

Specifically, in the spot in the profile section where the band or artist is supposed to list their record label, Bode's page says "None". I have no idea how long it's been that way, but it sure doesn't seem like something that a person who has four albums left on her record deal would write, does it? I'm just sayin'...
