An email from Clayton McDonnell of MAXJAZZ alerts StLJN that the St. Louis-based label will release a second volume of pianist Mulgrew Miller performing Live at the Kennedy Center on May 22.
The first volume was released in August 2006 to favorable notices from reviewers. For example, All About Jazz.com writer C. Michael Bailey called it "a Thanksgiving feat in five courses," adding that "The best thing about Live at the Kennedy Center, Volume 1 is that there will be a Volume 2". Joel Roberts, also reviewing the CD for All About Jazz, said "There’s probably no better pianist working in the jazz mainstream today than Mulgrew Miller."
Miller and his trio will be in St. Louis from May 9 - 12 to perform at Jazz at the Bistro.
