PBS' Legends of Jazz series premieres
in St. Louis on Friday, April 7

The new PBS series Legends of Jazz, hosted by pianist Ramsey Lewis, will get its St. Louis premiere at 10:30 p.m., Friday, April 7 on local public television affiliate KETC (Channel 9) .

Described as "the first weekly national network jazz series in 40 years," the program will feature conversations with and studio performances by a range of jazz stars. The initial 13 episodes already completed will include appearances by St. Louis natives Clark Terry and David Sanborn, as well as Roy Hargrove, Chris Botti, Benny Golson, Pat Metheny, Lee Ritenour, Marcus Miller, George Duke, Phil Woods, Kurt Elling, Al Jarreau, Ivan Lins, Oscar Castro-Neves, Robert Cray, Keb' Mo', Tony Bennett, Chick Corea and the late Ray Barretto.

Each weekly program is organized around a theme, such as trumpet players, Brazilian jazz, or the blues, and you can see a complete listing of episodes here.
