Eric Person has new CD, will
premiere 'Trane arrangements

Eric Person

Somewhere amidst his busy schedule of touring and recording, Eric Person apparently has a little bit of time to do some Web surfing, too. I got a nice email today from the St. Louis-born saxophonist, indicating that he'd seen StLJN and passing along information on a couple of his current projects:
On January 30th, 2006, Meta-Four has been selected to perform newly discovered music manuscripts of John Coltrane's. We will perform at a private gathering in New York City for the President's Council of the Arts. The songs and arrangements were purchased in an auction by the Schaumberg Library in New York City Februay 2005. The never-before performed or recorded pieces include an arrangement of "Lover Man" (for big band), and two Coltrane originals: "The Back Beat" and "Out of a Dream". "I'm excited and honored to perform the works from the pen of John Coltrane," says Eric. Stay tuned for more information on this new Eric Person project!

Saxophonist Eric Person's new CD Reflections is available now. It's Eric's sixth CD as a leader. It features a wide variety of players from trumpeter Dave Douglas, bassist Dave Holland, drummers E.J.Strickland, Peter O'Brien and pianist John Esposito. The CD is a "best of collection" from his three Soul Note and two Distinction Records releases. Plus there are three exciting unreleased Live tracks featuring trumpeter Dave Douglas.

The CD is on sale at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ericperson and http://www.amazon.com

It's always great to get the scoop straight from the artist, and Eric has said he'll keep StLJN posted on his future activities.
